On February 1st, 1988 Bethlehem Place opened its’ doors to 27 families in need of safe affordable housing and support services.
For 30 years Bethlehem Place has been providing transitional housing and support programs to improve the quality of life for families in Niagara.
Bethlehem Housing and Support Services was built by the community for the community. What started as a grassroots initiative has grown into a leading charitable organization within Niagara that provides supportive transitional and permanent supported housing for men, women and their children.
Through the vision of our founders and the continued belief and dedication of our many volunteers and supporters, Bethlehem has helped thousands of individuals and families in our community.
Now 30 years later we continue to provide safe and affordable housing with support services to over 300 families annually that are in need of stable housing in Niagara.
Our dedicated staff and board members work tirelessly to ensure that we are supporting those who reach out to Bethlehem for help through their journey to break the cycle of homelessness and gain the confidence, skills and health to remain securely housed.
In the coming years we will be expanding to address the growing demand for affordable housing in our community and help more people connect with the right support services to sustain their housing over the long term.
To commemorate our 30th anniversary Bethlehem Place has undergone a facelift to create an accessible and welcoming environment.
In the Spring of 2018 construction will be in full swing to build a new affordable housing building at 111 Church Street that will provide 127 affordable rental units with on-site support services and community amenities.
This development has become a reality as a result of a unique P3 partnership between Penn Terra Group Ltd., FirstOntario Credit Union and Bethlehem Housing and Support Services offering a made-in-Niagara solution that has been supported unanimously by the City of St. Catharines, Niagara Region and Niagara Regional Housing.
Bethlehem has many long standing partnerships and every year we engage in new relationships that provide the opportunity to collaborate on solutions to achieve greater community impact.
We are grateful for the continued support from our service partners, funders, loyal donors and volunteers.
Together we are building a Niagara where everyone has a home!
