Niagara is one of the first regions in Canada to institute a Charter of Rights for children and teens.
The Niagara Children’s Charter of Rights is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by 191 countries in 1989 and is unique in that the children of Niagara directly contributed to its development.
Since the development of the Niagara Children’s Charter in 2002, it has been endorsed by all twelve municipalities of Niagara and several community organizations, in demonstration of their commitment to the children of our community.
